Born in Portsmouth, Ohio August 13 , 1948, Kathleen Battle has become one of the greatest opera vocalist ever. The popular soprano has recieved five Grammy Awards; three as Best Classical Vocal Soloist. She won a Grammy for "KATHLEEN BATTLE SINGS MOZART" in 1986 , with Andre Previn as conductor. In 1992 she won for " KATHLEEN BATTLE AT CARNEGIE HALL" She also won an Emmy for " Outstanding Individual Achievement In A Classical Program on Television" in 1991 on PBS for the Metropolitan Opera.
Kathleen has been awarded several honorary degrees. She earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees from the College Coservatory of Music. Her other Doctorial degrees were from Westminister Choir College; Seton Hall; Xavier; Ohio University and Amherst College.
Kathleen has also recorded with other great artist such as Wynton Marsalis " BAROQUE DUET " and Christopher Parkening " ANGELS' GLORY ".
